YouTube is testing a new feature that will let you hum a tune or lyrics, and it will find the song for you. Call it Shazam, but on hum-steroids. Also, if that sounds like too much trouble, just hold your phone close to a speaker or any other sound source playing music, and the app will do its job.

The YouTube app will only need three or more seconds worth of your horrible humming to detect the right track. " Once the song is identified, you’ll be sent to relevant official music content, user-generated videos, and/or Shorts featuring the searched song in the YouTube app.

By the way, this feature was enabled for the Google Assistant back in 2020. This is how it works on a phone. (Sorry for the potato video quality. It's just Twitter aka X compression):

"Once the song is identified, you’ll be sent to relevant official music content, user- generated videos, and/or Shorts featuring the searched song in the YouTube app," says a Google support page.

Just keep in mind that this is an experimental feature and currently rolling out to a small batch of users across the globe. So, keep an eye out for any new icons or text appearing in the search field of the YouTube app on Android.
