Apple has introduced the 2023 refresh of its 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops. It looks the same as the previous generation, because Apple doesn’t give a shit about design overhaul unless it runs for about a decade. Under that aluminum chassis, however, are the new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.
The M2 Pro offers up to 12 CPU cores and 19 GPU cores, while the M2 Max doubles the number of GPU cores to 38. If you believe Apple, these new processors are batshit fast and run circles around Intel processors. If you’re rich enough, you can cram up to 8TB of storage and 96GB RAM inside the new MacBook Pro.
Apple has extended the battery life to 22 hours, and has also added Wi-Fi 6E support that is “twice” as fast. The HDMI port can now support 8K display output, while the MagSafe charging cable you get in the box is now color-matched to the shade of your laptop. Pick between silver and space gray!
The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at Rs. 1,99,900 for the base M2 Pro model with a 10-core CPU. If you go big, the 16-inch MacBook Pro will rob Rs. 2,49,900 from your father’s bank account. The priciest configuration with 96GB RAM and 8TB storage only costs Rs. 6,49,900 at the moment.
If you like to read numbers about performance and fancy benchmarking percentages, all the details are here, while the new M2-series processors have been explained in this post.
